Life of wisdom (Eph. 5;15-18)

Life with wisdom 

Ephesians 5;15-18 

“Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, 

Making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 

Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. 

Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, 

be filled with the Spirit.” 

  

this afternoon I will tell you something 

have a dream when you are teenager 

be prepared when you are twenties  

and be a person of influence when you are thirties 

Bible says “where there is no vision people perish(proverb 29;18) 

Brothers and sisters 

You will not be teenager or twenties forever 

Do not think that your younger days are forever 

Time is so fast and it never returns 

Brothers and sisters 

You know it seems like yesterday I came here in the Philippines 

But I have been here already almost 20 years 

The time is so fast and it flies fleetingly before we know it 

And the point is this one 

How do you live in your younger days? 

How do you live now? 

The fact is that your life of thirties and forties depend on your life of today

That is why I’d like to encourage you ABC student 

Have a dream for your future

and Be prepared now

Then God will use you in your life

But if you make a mess in your younger days 

Then you can not guarantee your future 

No dream, no preparation then no assurance in your future life 

In a mountain church in Ilocos Sur, there is one girl whom I like 

So every time I met her, 

I encourage her to come and study in ABC bible school but she said mamaya 

and one day she suddenly married and 

Now she has 2 anak 

And now  even she wants to study in ABC but Mahirap, can not be 

One time she told some body 

sayang when ptr. Sung said to study I should have listened 

Time is not wait for you 

so once again I tell you 

Have a great dream and prepare for that while you are young 

Then God will use you mightily for his glory and kingdom 

amen 

Today I’d like to share the word of God entitled 

“life with wisdom” 

Today’s passage says that do not live as unwise but as wise 

Then how do we live as wise? 

Which way is the life of wisdom? 

No1 Making the best of use time  

Today’s passage it says “making the most of every opportunity, 

because the days are evil.” 

making the most of every opportunity,

Meaning do not waste your time 

Your younger generation will not be forever 

So once again Have a dream and prepare for it when you are young 

then you will become a person of influence when you are 30s or 40s

One time I ate Hamburger at MacDonald in session Rd one evening 

When I go out, I saw one old woman looking for something 

In a trash can

When she find left over chicken 

She put it in a plastic bag 

I feel pity for her 

Actually I want to help her 

But I don’t know what to do 

And I was thinking, how’s her younger days 

Did she have a dream in her younger days? 

Brothers and sisters 

do not waste your time 

Making the best of use time today

remember today's passage is warning us 

the days are evil 

Many young people waste their time 

why

Because the days are evil 

Meaning this world system is killing time system 

There is TV and computer and cellphone and etcetera 

They are making life comfortable 

But because of these we are waste our time 

Just watch pera or bayong, play computer 

chat with your friend or text with your cellphone 

“miss na miss kita, mahal kita” 

Brothers and sisters 

How do you manage your time

i tell you once again

Time is not waiting for you 

You may not be young very long 

and check it out how much time you lost already?

and Use rightly what remains. 

i mean Redeem lost time. 

In view of time wasted be more diligent in its use 

because,

Your opportunity is so much shorter.

Pay all attention and discipline your self 

Prepare for your future today

Then God will use you mightily in His time Amen 

No2 Be very careful 

Today’s passage say’s 

Be very careful, 

may be you know this song

o be careful little eyes what you see(X2)

for the father up above is 

looking down in love

so be ~~

Meaning use our discretion (신중/디스크레션)

Act with our circumspection (썰큠스펙션)

You know many people act with careless 

And they fall down 

I know one pastor 

Now he is not pastoring 

He is selling Chinese medicine, house to house 

You know why? When he had ministry 

he made some mistake that is why he stop ministry 

and now he is selling the Chinese medicine 

And he said “Ptr.I regret what I did before, 

it was thoughtless, please pray for me” 

sayang 

And they said things are better in the old days 

Oh I want to go back that time 

They live in the past memory 

Brothers and sisters 

Yes some times we look back in our old days 

But my point is do not live in past 

I mean Do not tie down with your past 

Whether it’s good old days or bad old days 

Past is past 

What is done cannot be undone 

yes as we are human being we are not perfect

when you  have mistake from that place you start again

Bible says Ecclesiastes (에클레시아스테스)7;10 

“Do not say, "Why were the old days better than these?" 

For it is not wise to ask such questions.” 

Meaning, don’t long for your old days. That is not wise. 

Do not stick with your past 

Let bygone be bygone 

And focus for tomorrow, live in future 

Perspective after 5years or 10years 

and prepare for your future now 

In this way is the life of wisdom amen 

No3 understand what the lord’s will is 

Brothers and sisters 

do you know that God has plan for you

yes that is why God send here in ABC

and train us 

so while we study here we try our best to prepare

sometimes we are not clear how God will lead us and use us

but we know our Lord who holds our tomorrow in his hand. 

and  we know his will for our life day by day.

that is why even difficulties come to us 

we do not discouraged

even hindrance come to us 

we will not stop 

be coz we know than God has plan  for us

and we know than we will have a victory

amen

In Korea Hong jungwook who is the president of Korea herald 

Which is an English daily news paper once said 

Dream is more important than life 

If you lost your life that means death of your body 

But if you lost your dream that means death of your soul 

Have a great dream brothers and sisters 

And prepare for it now here in ABC

you know to today title is life with wisdom

then where will we get the wise

how do we gain wisdom 

the answer is 

we gain wisdom by spending time with God 

and we gain wisdom 

by spending time with godly people amen

 

No 4 do not get drunk 

there is story in Talmud  

there is a farmer who plant grape vine tree

and devil come  what are you doing

planting  grape and later on we can make sweet wine by this fruits

and devil daid oh really?can i share when you have wine 

then he brought sheep lion pig moneky kill them and those blood he put in the vine tree 

that is why if you drink 

first time you become shy  like sheep

and if you continue to drink later on you become wild like lion

more drink you will be dirty like 바보이

and lastly you will sing and dansing like monkey dao

I know you do not drink but today passage says 

“Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery.” (디바쳐리)

Meaning do not pursue pleasure /merrymaking 

If you indulge in merrymaking 

You will waste your time 

You will waste your money 

and you will dis troy yourself 

Onetime I eat breakfast in one restaurant in Sinipsip 

And some customers drink tanduay in the morning in that restaurant  

And when I come back that restaurant in the evening 

There are still their ….(Many empty bottles) 

Brothers and sisters 

If you are only Drinking and seeking amusement, 

Then you have no future 

Bible says 1st Corinthians 6;10 

nor drunkards will inherit the kingdom of God. 

One of my old friend in Korea drink every day 

And one big problem is that he is a Christian 

He comes to church on Sunday, you know what he says? 

Forgive me that I drunk wine yesterday 

Brothers and sisters 

Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. 

do not pursue pleasure / the worldly things 

ladies do not care boys 

and boys do not care ladies 

if you become a good minister 

and you are a person of influence 

that time many babae or lalake will line up after you 

No 5 and last is be filled with the Spirit 

amen 

we should be filed with the holy spirit 

because the days are evil 

Bible says 1st peter 5;8 

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls 

around like a roaring lion 

looking for someone to devour 

Brothers and sisters 

The point is clear 

do not be filled with wine. 

but be filled with the Holy Spirit. 

ask God for anointing with power of the Holy Spirit every day 

then he will pour out his power to us 

as Christian we have to live -not my power but God’s power 

now I conclude this sermon with my story 

do not waist  your time 

i try my best

Father we thank you for what you have done in our lives 

And father I pray that 

you continue to shower your blessing unto our lives 

Give us your wisdom and thoughtful heart 

give us your vision and follow your will

The time is so fast

That is why I’d like to encourage you today ABC student 

Have a dream and Be prepared for it today 

then you will fulfill your dream when you are thirties and forties 

But if you make a mess in your younger days 

Then you can not guarantee your thirties and your forties 

No dream, no preparation then no assurance in your future life

one time when i go to the mountain church 

they have a few member

so i ask to the church member what happen to your church.,.

and they said when they have election pastor run up for barangai officers 

so that some of members doesn't like him.......

diba Last time ptr eddie  was a candidate for president and he failed 

why like that ??

people already respect the as a pastor.

then why they are still chasing position....

be loved ABC student 

be careful 3G

I know many good pastors fail because of the 3 G 

and they said why did i run up barangai officer's 

why did i play tongit that time...

And they said things are better in the old days 

Oh I want to go back my old time 

but they cannot go...

Brothers and sisters 

some times we have mistake 

because we are human being

but my point is thuis one

Whether it’s good old days or bad old days 

Past is past 

What is done cannot be undone

In Korea we believe that if some boys come out January 1 

we think that he is lucky 

But if girl’s birth day is January 1 ,we believe she is unlucky 

Someone was pregnant and gave a birth January 1 

So all the family said 

Oh please LALAKE but it was BABAE 

So the family was disappointed specially her father 

she was abused by the father every day 

her father spank her many times 

so that her mother send her to a Taekweondo institution 

so she can defend herself from her father 

she grew up with many sufferings 

one day her brother was against to his father 

“why you spank my sister” 

So they fight each other because of her 

And so she ran away 

To make the story short 

She went to USA 

And married with Americano 

Even husband treat her cruelly 

So later on she divorced him 

She had a really miserable life 

Story is not yet finished 

One day she went to church by herself for comfort 

And for surviving her life 

She opened taekwondo institute 

Because she was a black belter 

And finally she succeeded in her business 

You know what is her institute theme? 

“He can do it, she can do it , why not me “ 

This is her taekwondo institute theme 

When she opened the institute 

Every day she go to church for morning prayer 

And prayed to God 

Lord, he can do she can do why not me 

He is happy she is happy why not me 

He succeed, she succeed why not me 

She prayed to God every day 

Now she is became rich 

She is among the list of 100 rich people in America 

Brothers and sisters you can do it 

He can do she can do why not me 

Everything is possible to him who believes 

Lord, grant me your power of anointing...

God bless someone? Why not me he will bless me 

God anoints someone ? Why not me he can also anoint me 

God use somebody? why not me, he can also use me
