let's begin well (New year sermon)

welcome to ABC for the new students

and Welcome back to ABC for the old students

And happy New Year,  

2016 is year of the monkey

And monkey is smart and marami talent daw 

is anyone here born in year of the monkey??

if you were born 1980 or 1992 

you are monkey

wala? that is why wala smart in ABC

anyway as we begin this new year, Like monkey  

I want all of you to be smart and wise

and i want you develop your talent while you study here in ABC 

and use it for the glory of God.amen 

one thing more when we start in this new year

you will decide something to do or some one to be

 it is calling new year,s resolution(레쏠루션)

some one decide i will read bible from genesis to revelation in this year

other may decide i will pioneer a church in this new year

maybe some one decide  this year i make a boy friend or girl friend

anyway i want all of your resolution to be filled in this year

prayer

father we thank you for adding another wonderful new year in our lives

we bless your name oh lord

and this is the time to listen to your word 

and i pray in the name of Jesus

let your Holy Spirit  take  full control of this service

and refresh us empower us through your living word

and give every one victory in this new year for your glory 

thank you in Jesus name  we pray 

Today I want to share the word of god entitled let’s begin well 

to begin well, we should have pure mind like children 

Matt. 18;1-4 at that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, 

“Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? 

He called a little child and had him stand among them. 

And he said: “ I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, 

you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 

Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 

we are starting new year

in Korea we are saying “a good beginning is half done”  

meaning starting is important 

where we put our first step, it makes our direction- east west south or north 

you know for example jacket

if we made a mistake in fastening the first buttons of our jacket, 

then the rest is also mistaken 

so we have to  begin well…we have to begin right way

1st let’s have a pure heart 

Children heart is pure, genuine and they can't lie 

oneday i visit one of my friend Korean missionary house

and we cook together 

some one make kimbab

some one make japchae 

and i marinade chicken bbq

and i said if we put here some beer mas masarab 

and my friend missionary said  

Ptr...how do you look for beer in missionary house  we don have  beer 

that time her anak may that time she was 5 years old and she said 

Papa we have beer in the refrigerator 

no that is cali not beer

no papa we have beer 

children can't lie 

cos they are pure

bible says if we are not like child we can not go to the kingdom of heaven 

Meaning our heart should be pure like children amen

so Beloved ABC student 

I want all of you to live this 2016 with pure heart 

For the Christian, the best warfare is purity, innocence 

And this pure heart will be used to touch other people, and touch the heaven 

there is story in korea

In Korea 1st missionary his name Underwood 

He came to Korea in 1884 

first time when american missionary come to Korea 

dalagang mahirap to evangelize

if they introduce Jesus to Korean 

they said 

we have our own traditional god, why should we believe a western god

if some one accept Jesus 

some people even said  "You are traitor to my country" 

mahirap na evengelize

then one the night, some people from the province came to Underwood’s house 

And they said Ptr.Under wood.

we’ve got a bible accidentally and when we read the bible 

We were touched so we want to be Christian, can you  baptize us today? 

And Underwood said I didn’t know even who you are how can I baptize you 

Then they remove the clothes and they showed their necklace

and it is wooden cross necklace but they use baliktad (설명)

And Underwood was wondering 

Why do you carry cross in your back?, 

and they said when we read the bible 

bible says Luke 9;23 

“If anyone would come after me he must deny himself 

and take up his cross daily and follow me 

“so that we carry the cross  everyday" 

then Underwood  laugh at them 

and “now I know your pure heart so I will baptize today…” 

and he baptized them 

Brothers and sisters 

God will be glad and likes pure heart 

Bible says (Matt. 18;18) 

"whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven , 

and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven" 

Pure heart will touch people and that pure heart  will touch heaven…amen? 

EX) one time when I go to mountain ministry with some of ABC student 

Someone wanted to borrow my cell phone~~~ 

This is not pure heart 

Shall we say  “let’s have a pure heart  in this new year” 

Then what is the meaning of pure? 

And how do we make our heart pure? 

bible says Psalms 78 72

"David shepherded them with integrity of heart with skillful hands he led them"

David lead Israelite with skillful hand and integrity of heart(pure heart)

we are all future leader and we have to know this one 

only lead your skill or technique it will fall

skill + integrity heart amen

skill is important but heart guide hands

I tell you illustration there are two glasses 

And one glass is filled with clean water and another is empty 

Both are clean but pure means glass with clean water 

Listen carefully 

Both are clean but the empty glass, because there is nothing in it yet, 

it can be filled with dirty water or anything. 

But filled with clean water is already filled with clean water 

so it cannot be filled with other things  anymore. 

And I tell you, is there anything purify than the word of God? 

I mean if your heart is filled with the word of God  

Then worldly things cannot fill your heart anymore 

Because your heart is already full of the word of God amen 

Once again purify means is not making your heart empty 

but filled with clean water which is the word of God 

 

I want all of you read bible every day in this new year

so that you will not think worldly things 

2nd Seek God’s will 

Children do not worry about tomorrow 

Why because their parents do all things for their children 

i have last daughter her name is hannar 

when she said mama milk 

then my wife even thou she is sleeping

wake up  and make milk for her

i remember when jessica was young she said 

mama i want pizza 

and it was strong rain but my wife go out and buy pizza 

but if i ask something to buy

my wife said you go out and buy

Brother and sisters my point is this one 

our father who are in heaven is the same 

And we are all his children we are sons and daughters in God 

And he has a great plan each every one of us 

and he want to bless us, he cares for our lives amen 

So, no need to worry about tomorrow 

Just ask God what is his plan for you and follow his will amen 

When I study bible school in korea 

i stay domiroty 1 years

and every evening we have prayer meeting

and Korean stiyle shout~~`their prayer 

so that people can hear their prayer

oneday our chapel some preach Abraham is father of faith

and one of my classmate prayed, in prayer meeting

“Lord  give me a faith like Abraham 

then one class mate asked him after prayer meeting 

you can give your anak to the lord as a burnt offering like Abraham 

and he said no I can’t 

then why you pray give me a faith like Abraham 

then he changed his prayer Lord give me a  faith like peter 

then friend said him again 

“you can be crucified on the cross upside down for Jesus like peter did” 

and he said ganoon ba oh that is mahirap 

then he start pray 

"father you give me my faith" 

 

brothers and sisters 

God wants to use us for his glory 

but his plan for us is not the same for each everyone of us 

our talent is all different 

so we have to seek what is God’s will for us amen 

and trust him that he has a plan for you amen 

Especially our graduate students, do not worry about your future 

Do not force yourself to do something by your own strengthen 

God will make a way for you amen 

Even though you want something to do now, if God is not open, you can not go on 

Like elevator door it is dangerous to open elevator door by force 

Just wait until the door opens, that is the safety way 

if you wait, the elevator’s door will open smoothly 

It is the same with our Christian life, do not worry about your tomorrow 

God has already plan for you 

You do not  force your way for God 

Just wait until God opens the way that is the best way 

may be some one will ask ptr. how do i know God's will for me

my answer is this one 

just think this 

how do I make God be glad through my life, 

which way is to live glory for God 

Then God will take care of your way 

and you find god's will for you amen 

3rd make harmony with one another 

Children  are easy to get along, 

they are easy to become friend 

For example in America 

There are Asian African American in one school 

And they can be a friend with each other, 

they play together and make good harmony 

But until high school 

In college, koreano get along with koreano only Japanese get along with Japanese only 

You know when we have construction in this building 

Some of our worker is high land and some of worker is low land 

You know they don’t like to stay together, they make two nipa hut  and sleep separately 

Even they eat separately 

American writer Mark Twain said 

I tried to put dog and cat in one house 

and unexpectedly after someday they got along together 

And again I tried another animals, I put bird and pig and goat in one cage 

All they need is time to adapt with each other, and finally they got along together… 

And I tried to put in one house, a Presbyterian Methodist and Baptist  

but sad to say, they did not get along together

This means people to be in harmony is really difficult 

Be loved ABC 

We should have harmony with each other 

coz we are family in God

We have student from  tabuk  Isabella ,Pangasinan 

Samar and palawan 

 and ptr sung is koreano.. 

But we are all ABCian 

Here in ABC we have different denomination 

And we are one in Christ and we are family in God  amen 

So care for each other, love one another and respect each other amen 

then how to make harmony with one another 

I will tell you 3 things 

A) Pray together (Acts 1;14) 

when we pray together we can make harmony 

you know husband wife when they pray together  they never  separate 

when church members pray together, church has no division 

Because when we pray together the Holy Spirit comes to us and binds us with God’s love 

B) Respect each other 

when we respect each other we can make harmony 

you know when you respect your friend classmate and teacher they also respect you amen 

bible says  John 17;1 Jesus pray “ Father, the time has come, Glorify your son that your son may glorify you 

see father God Glorify Jesus and Jesus glorify Father .. 

like this when we glorify each other, respect each other , we can be one in Christ 

but  when  we look down to one another, blame one another , 흥- 아등암몸 

then there is division 

you say beside you “you are better then me” 

“when you humble yourself , God will lift you up” amen

C) Share blessings to each other 

Bible says in john 17;10  “all I have is yours and all you have is mine” 

Somebody said  all you have is mine and all I have is mine 

No, that is wrong 

Don’t  be selfish specially dormitory life 

If you have something you share together Amen

once again pray together , respect each other , share blessings , through these steps 

i want all of you make harmony with one another 

God bless you all ..happy new year ...

father we thank you this morning

father we thank you for what you have done in our lifes

and as we start in this new year and new trimester

father you continue to shower your blessings in to us

you bless each every one of us 

father help us to have a pure heart give us integrity of heart

and help us faith ful to you all the time

help us to fellowship with you all the time

and give us victory in this year for your glory

once again i pray for ABC

father you bless Asia Bible College

bless all the staff faculty teachers

and bless the entire ABC student

while they study here in ABC

mold them as your instument

and equip them for your purpose

and use them mightly for your glory and your kingdom

father we thank you today for refresh and strengthen us today

we give all the glory honor and praise in Jesus name amen
