Anointing (2king 4;1-7)

Anointing  (2king 4;1-7) 

The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, 

"Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered(존경/리비어) the LORD.

 But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves." 

Elisha replied to her, "How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?" 

"Your servant has nothing there at all," she said, "except a little oil." 

Elisha said, "Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. 

Don't ask for just a few. 

Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. 

Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side." 

She left him and afterward shut the door behind her and her sons. 

They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring.  

When all the jars were full, she said to her son, "Bring me another one." 

But he replied, "There is not a jar left." Then the oil stopped flowing. 

She went and told the man of God, and he said, 

"Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. 

You and your sons can live on what is left." 

father we thank you this morning

and we come to you in your present 

asking for your blessings 

as we gather together

and this is the time to listen to your word

and i pray in the name of Jesus

you anoint this service with your power of the holy spirit

 and empower us  strengthen us with your living word

and help us declaring its truth with our word and deeds

thank you in Jesus name

today's passage is Elisha's story 

but there is spiritual meaning 

today's title is "anointing

then what is the anointing ?

and what does it mean to be anointed?

the origin of anointing was from a practice of shepherds

lice or other insect use to bite or attack to sheep 

sometimes they could burrow(버러우) into the sheep's ears 

and kill the sheep.

so shepherd poured oil on the sheep's head

and this made the wool slippery

making it impossible for insects' attack 

because the  insects would slide off (마둘라스)

from this anointing became symbolic of blessing, protection 

and empowerment

 and in the bible people were anointed with oil to signify  

call on that person’s life for special purpose 

so what is anointing?

God's blessing protection empowerment and his calling for special purpose  

and say amen some one who wants be anointed 

yes God wants to release his anointing to his people 

God is calling us to welcome His anointing 

and all the people of God need anointing 

and people will change by anointing 

even Jesus, before he start ministry, he was anointed 

when Jesus was carpenters in this world 

no need anointing 

but when Jesus started ministry , he needs anointing 

so that when he was baptized with water, 

heaven was opened, 

and the Spirit of God descending unto him and empowered him

also Jesus disciples, before they work  

they stay in Jerusalem and waited for anointing as Jesus promised 

"you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; 

and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea 

and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." 

after the anointing, they start to work 

we also need anointing for working of God amen 

and how to be anointed? 

and How do we walk each day in this anointing? 

today we will speak about 3 steps of anointing 

1st obedience 

Today's passage Elisha says to widow 

“Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your neighbors 

and she did it   than God bless widow  

bible says Jn13;17

blessed are you if you act accordingly.(WNT)

and as we christian we should live for him

we should live like him amen?

because we are little Christ

We obey His commands, 

not because we have to, but because we want to, because we love Him. 

We are enabled to obey because, once we believe in Christ, we are born-again 

We are not the same people we once were. 

As Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, 

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

amen

When we obey the Lord, we can live a life of joy, happiness and hope

When God’s children obey their Heavenly Father, He is glorified

and when we are living for him and following His command it will be pleasing to God

EX)Jesus -command- stone 

in today's passage when widow obey what Elisha said 

their house and family were blessed 

and i want all of you to  walk with Christ and obedience 

then  the power of the Holy Spirit will Guide our life so that we will have a victory in our life amen

2st Emptiness 

ill)원숭이잡는법 부코 made hall and put inside the stone 

we ware some times like money

stone is useless

but we grab it and keep on hold on

people's greed has no limit 

only 70% but  we want 100% and still more 

and finally stomach ache 

but brothers and sisters 

we cannot serve God with greedy 

see today's passage 

to fill the oil 

for the 1st 

they have to prepare empty jars 

without empty jar they cannot fill 

likewise for the anointing we have to prepare empty jar 

without being empty, we cannot be filled 

Jesus is a example of emptiness 

look at the Philippians 2;5-11 

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: 

Who, being in very nature God, 

did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,

 but made himself nothing,

 taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

 And being found in appearance as a man,

 he humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross 

See Moses, he is royal family, he is prince of the Egypt. 

but when he put down everything, before God 

God anointed him and use him 

it is the same with Paul 

he is Pharisee, the ruling classes during that time, 

even he has Roman citizenship 

and he is disciple of Gamaliel (가말리엘)

who is a great scholar of the day 

but he says "I consider them rubbish,(러비쉬) that I may gain Christ" 

brothers and sisters 

if you want anointing with the power of God 

put down everything before God 

you should be empty first before filling 

for example 

someone called you 

and when we receive the cell phone 

 if surrounding is noisy it is not clear

"what what ? sandali teka  I cannot hear you" 

if we are in noisy place, we can not hear the voice of God 

if there is something in our jar we cannot be filled 

so we have to empty first before we fill amen. 

Before we pray that God would fill us 

We should to pray Him to empty us. 

There must be empting before there can be a filling. 

When our heart is turned up side down 

And everything is turned out that is against God 

Then the Spirit will come.

brothers and sisters  

God is imparting His anointing to us

 for our own healing and deliverance, 

but there is more. 

He wants us to be so empowered and energized with His anointing 

that we become instruments of His miracles for others. 

and i want all of you be empty and seek the his power of anointing 

so you will have a blessing and victory in your life 

3rd Urged  /insist 

for the anointing next step is insist 

if you read 2 king  chapter 4 verse 8~

we will see another Elisha's story 

One day Elisha went to Shunem. And a well-to-do woman was there, 

who urged him to stay for a meal. 

So whenever he came by, he stopped there to eat. 

the woman urged/insist Elisha to stay for a meal 

it is not just ask, it is not request or invite 

she urged to come 

it is same for anointing 

"Lord, you anoint me" and nothing happen, never mine. 

it is not  'urged'

you should urge the holy Spirit come  

"Holy spirit !!! I need you. you come to me~" 

see the woman urged Elisha to come her house 

and she treat very well 

and after that  whenever Elisha  came by, 

he stopped and come in 

Ex)하보네로 after mountain mission 

 we drink coke it is rebre ~~~~

학교보내주고 한국보내주고  교회 지어주고

like this when you urge  God for anointing 

when we urge the holy spirit to come 

and once he comes and dwell in us 

next time he will come to us by himself .. 

he will be pleased to come to us all the time amen 

first visit is important 

if he come once 

if he come once and treat him very well 

and then next time he will come to us voluntarily by himself 

see the today's passage: 

when Elisha come to come her house 

one day her son die then Elisha revived him 

listen very well 

when spirit comes to us 

if there is anointing, there is revival amen 

urge him to come 

"holy spirit you come to me~" 

press him to come 

like Hanna, Hanna prayed with bitterness, 

wept much and pray to the lord 

you give me annak you give me annak.... 

then  I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life 

ex1) when we study in bible school in korea 

we use to go to mountain and over night pray 

in the mountain there is a lot of pine tree

and teacher said "you hold one pine tree and pray 

till pine tree pulls out then you will be fullness of the holy spirit" 

so we go around look for tiny tree so that it will be easy to pull out.

 and we pray over night ~~~untill the morning 

we didn't pull out the pine tree

but we are all filled with Holy spirit

and sing 예수이름으로 예수 이름으로 ~

brothers and sisters

The Lord wants to fill us with His power. 

He wants us to walk in His anointing to He can pour out His power, 

His blessings, over us.

and i want all of you to keep and increase his anointing and 

experiencing the depth and rich reality of God’s precious touch on your life, 

you will never, ever be the same!

That is my prayer for you today!

brothers and sisters 

anointing is individual 

when we have worship or prayer meeting 

Someone is touched but others are not 

When we have praise and worship 

Some one feel the presence of God but others do not 

anointing is individual 

and there is step 

no1 obedience

no2 emptiness 

no3 urge 

and I want all of you anoint by the power of the holy spirit 

so that God will use you mightily 

for his glory and his kingdom 

may god bless all 

Heavenly Father, I come before you, in the blessed 

name of Jesus and in the power of the Holy Spirit 

we thank you that you have sent your Holy Spirit to live in us,

 to empower us to live a life pleasing to you. 

Lord, I pray in the name of Jesus (2X) 

you anoint us with your power of the Holy Spirit 

you release your power to us now

and use us mightily for your glory and your kingdom

 and help us magnify the work of our hands to bring glory your name

and father you continue to shower your blessing unto us 

bless our ministry /family / life

thank you Jesus thank you holy spirit

we love you lord

we give glory praise and  thanks giving now and forever

in Jesus name amen
