when God call us Exodus 4:2-8

Exodus 4:2-8 

Then the LORD said to him, "What is that in your hand?" 

"A staff," he replied.

The LORD said, "Throw it on the ground." 

Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake, 

and he ran from it.

Then the LORD said to him, 

"Reach out your hand and take it by the tail." 

So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake 

and it turned back into a staff in his hand.

"This," said the LORD, "is so that they may believe 

that the LORD, the God of their fathers--the God of Abraham,

 the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob--has appeared to you."

father we thank you in this afternoon

i pray in the name of Jesus 

you bless this time and bless your word

you empower us  to live in light of the gospel,

declaring its truth with our words,

and embodying(임바딩/구현하다) this truth through our actions.

Give us love for you and love for one another.

Then the LORD said, "Put your hand inside your cloak." 

So Moses put his hand into his cloak, 

and when he took it out, it was leprous, like snow.

"Now put it back into your cloak," he said. 

So Moses put his hand back into his cloak, 

and when he took it out, it was restored, 

like the rest of his flesh.

Then the LORD said, "If they do not believe you 

or pay attention to the first miraculous sign, they may believe the second.

God has a great purpose for us. 

And he wants to accomplish his purpose in us and through us. 

Today’s passage is about a situation where God 

was calling Moses to be used for His plans and purpose. 

When God called Moses, he performed miraculous signs through him. 

And these miraculous signs have a symbolical meaning. 

And the meaning of those miraculous events can be applicable to all of us today. 

In verse 2, the Lord asked Moses, 

“What is that in your hand?” 

What are you holding? What do you have in your hand? 

What can you do for me? 

Today the Lord is asking the same question to us. 

Moses answered “A staff.” 

It is the stick Moses was holding when he tended his sheep. 

It represented the life of Moses. 

At that time Moses was tending the flock in Median Desert. 

I’m a shepherd. And today God is asking to you,

 “What is in your hand?” Maybe you will answer, 

I’m a student. I’m a business man. I’m a farmer. 

I can play guitar. I know how to use computer. 

And the Lord said “throw it on the ground.” 

“Put it down before me.” 

I believe that before God use us, he first 

wants our obedience and dedication. 

God wants us to put down our talents or our gifts 

Even though those are very small things or insignificant things, 

just put those down before God. 

Miriam had a tambourine  in her hand, and she used it 

to lead the people to praise God after crossing Red Sea. 

So what do you have in your hand? 

David had a sling in his hand, and the giant Goliath fell 

when he used it. 

So what do you have in your hand? 

Hannah held a small child in her hand, 

but when she gave him to God, 

he became a great prophet. So, 

what do you have in your hand? 

All the little boy had lunchbox, 

but Jesus used it to feed 5000. 

when he give it to share So, 

what do you have in your hand? 

Be loved ABCians 

God can do great things today with what we have 

I don’t know what do you have in your hand 

but I know when you put it down before God which is in your hand 

He will use it for his Kingdom and his glory 

Bible says, God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise 

God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 

(I Corinthians 1:27-28).

that’s the time God will use it and use us  

Let’s continue in our Today’s passage 

“Moses threw it on the ground” 

He threw his staff down on the ground. 

In casting it down before the Lord 

It means Moses was obediently laying his life before God. 

His action showed that he dedicated himself to the Lord 

Moses obeyed God’s words 

He put down his staff before God. 

Brothers and sisters 

When God is calling us to be used for His purpose 

I want all of us to obey without hesitation. Amen? 

“Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake.” 

Here the ‘snake’ means Satan’s opposition 

You know that there are always Satan’s obstacles in God’s work. 

When you are doing something great for God, 

there are always opposition. 

Even Jesus was tempted by Satan before His public life. 

And what did Moses do? 

Moses sought to flee from this opposition in the form of a snake. 

He tried to run away from it. 

But God instructed him to confront the danger by seizing the snake’s tail. 

When Satan wants to tempt us, 

God gives us wisdom to overcome or win those obstacles. amen

And Moses reached out his hand and took hold of the snake. 

Brothers and sisters 

When Satan’s power attacks us 

Do not run away 

Confront that power and defeat them. 

Then God will surely give us victory. 

Let’s go back to our Scripture. 

“So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake 

and it turned back into a staff in his hand.” 

But there was an important difference. 

The staff was no longer an ordinary shepherd’s staff. 

But the staff of God with which Moses would perform many great miracles. 

One more time I explain. 

The ordinary staff for caring sheep, 

but after the transforming power of God 

It changed into an extraordinary staff, 

which divided the red sea and strike the rock and water came out of it 

Brothers and sisters 

Like Moses, when we offer down our gifts before Him, 

God will turn our ordinary life into an extraordinary life. 

Brothers and sisters 

The good news is that the same power is available to us 

because God’s power is the same yesterday, today, and forever. 

The God of Moses is the same God we are serving today. 

When there is obedience and dedication to the Lord. 

God will use us and give us great power for His glory. 

Let’s continue to see our today’s Scripture v.6. 

When Moses put his hand into his cloak and took it out, it was leprous. 

And once again, he put his hand back into his cloak and took it out it was restored. 

(Cleansed, healed) 

What is the meaning of the sign of the hand 

becoming leprous and then became whole again? 

Inside the cloak is the bosom or heart. 

It reflects for what we are. our condition. 

And the hand reflects what we do.  our action (our deeds)

These two are linked (overlap). 

When Moses put his hand to his sin-sick (sinful) heart and withdrew it, 

it was leprous. 

It reflected the wretched moral state of humankind’s unregenerate nature. 

It is showing our miserable sinful-nature, our carnal-self. 

But God gave Moses a new heart. 

And when he returned his diseased hand to his cleansed heart,

 it emerged whole and well. 

There was an operation of God’s healing. 

Brothers and sisters 

We need God’s healing. 

Moses had learned from the 1st sign that 

God can transform an ordinary staff into a staff of power. 

Now he had to learn that the hand that wields(윌드/행사하다) the staff of God 

must be a clean hand (governed by a new heart). 

Brothers and sisters 

Our greatest need is to have our sinful hearts change (transform) 

by the power of God so that our hands may work rightly instead of evil.  . 

God will not use us unless we have a clean heart before Him. 

Let God turn your sinfulness to wholeness today. 

Then God will turn our ordinary life into the extraordinary. 

We will have the transforming power of God. 

Our weakness will change to strength. 

Our lost-ness to salvation. 

Our lukewarm-ness to zeal 

We need to be changed from ‘what we are’ to ‘what we can be’

we thank you this afternoon 

we thank you the massage to given us today

and i pray in the name of Jesus

father you help us to put down what we have before you

yes father we give our self to you now and forever

Come Lord Jesus, cover us with your precious blood 

and fill us with your power of the Holy Spirit. 

touch us now 

as we start this new year father you empower us 

strengthen us  with your power

we love you Lord Jesus, 

we praise you Jesus, 

we thank you Jesus 

we shall follow you every day of our life. 

use us for your kingdom

use us for your glory

오늘 말씀은 여러분이 잘 아시는 여호와께서 모세를 부르시는 장면입니다. 

하나님께서 부르실때에 여호와 하나님은 모세에게 초자연적인 이적을 보여 주시는데 

이 이적에는 모세를 향한 하나님의 뜻이 담겨져 있습니다. 

그리고 이 상징은 오늘날 우리에게도 그대로 적용되어집니다. 

저는 오늘 이 시간에 여러분과 함께 이 이적의 의미를 집어 보고 

함께 은혜를 나누고자 합니다. 

2절 말씀에 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시기를 “네 손에 있는 것이 무었이냐?” 

하나님께서는 지금 우리에게도 이렇게 묻고 계십니다. 

왜냐하면 하나님께서는 우리들 모두에게 

당신의 뜻을 이루기 위해 각각의 계획을 가지고 계시기 때문입니다. 

네가 무었을 들고 있느냐? 

네가 가지고 있는 것이 무었이냐? 

네가 나를 위해서 할 수 있는 것이 무었이냐? 

모세가 대답합니다. “지팡이 이니이다.” 

이 지팡이는 양을 치는 지팡이로서 모세의 삶을 의미하고 있습니다. 

당시의 모세는 미디안 광야에서 장인의 양 떼를 치고 있었습니다. 

양을 치는 목동 인데요. 저는 학생인데요. 

저는 장사꾼입니다. 저는 농부입니다. 

저는 영어를 조금 할 줄 아는데요 저는 컴퓨터를 조금 다룰 줄 알아요. 

“여호와께서 가라사대 그것을 땅에 던지라.” 그것을 내 앞에 내려 놓아라. 

하나님께서는 우리를 부르실 때에 먼저 우리에게 순종과 헌신을 요구하십니다. 

우리가 가진 달란트를 하나님 앞에 내어 놓기를 원합니다. 

그것이 비록 미미하고 보잘 것 없는 것일지라도 

하나님께 내려놓을 때에 그것은 귀하게 쓰임 받을 수 있습니다. 

하나님께서는 세상의 미련한 자들을 택하셔서 지혜로운 자들을 부끄럽게 하시고 

세상의 약한 자들을 택하셔서 세상의 강한 자들을 부끄럽게 하시며 

또한 세상의 천한 자들과 멸시 받는 자들과 없는 자들을 택하셔서 

있는 자들을 폐하시는 하나님이십니다. 

우리가 가지고 있는 것이 비록 작고 가치 없는 것이라 할지라도 

우리가 그것을 하나님 앞에 온전히 드릴 때에 

바로 그곳에서 하나님의 역사가 시작됨을 믿으시기 바랍니다. 

“모세가 지팡이를 곧 땅에 던지니” 곧이라는 말은 

주저함이 없는 망설이지 않는 즉각적인 순종을 의미합니다. 

마가복음 1장 17절에 예수께서 제자들을 부르실 때에 

그들이 즉시 그물과 고깃배를 버리고 예수님을 따랐음을 기억하십시오. 

하나님이 우리를 필요로 하실 때에, 하나님께서 우리를 부르실 때에 

망설이지 않고 곧바로 순종하는 저와 여러분이 되기를 바랍니다. 

Ex)나의 이야기  

“곧 땅에 던지니 그것이 뱀이 된지라.” 

이것은 사탄의 훼방을 의미합니다. 

하나님의 일에는 언제나 사탄의 딴지 걸기가 뒤따릅니다. 

마귀의 시험은 인정 사정이 없습니다 

그러므로 우리도 이들과 싸울 때에 목숨걸 고 싸워야 하는 것입니다 

예수께서도 공생애를 시작하시기전에 마귀의 유혹을 물리치셨습니다. 

그러나 모세는 어떻게 했습니까? 

“모세가 뱀 앞에서 피하매” 도망치려 했습니다. 

여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하십니다. 

“뱀의 꼬리를 잡으라.”사랑하는 성도 여러분 

사탄의 공격에 도망치지 않기를 바랍니다. 

우리가 사탄의 공격에 도망치면은 더 큰 늪에 빠지게 됩니다. 

하지만 예수님의 이름으로 맞서 싸울 때에 하나님께서 우리에게 승리를 주십니다. 

사랑하는 성도 여러분 우리의 삶 속에서 하나님이 찾아오셔서 우리를  부르실 때에 

우리도 때론 모세와 같이 사탄의 유혹에 넘어가 주저하게 됩니다. 

변명을 대고 회피하려 합니다 도망가려 합니다. 

하나님께서는 우리에게 지극히 작은 것을 요구하시는데 

우리는 그것을 하나님 앞에 내려놓지 않고 욺 켜 쥐려고 합니다.    

그러나 보십시오. 모세가 용기를 내어 손을 내밀어 뱀을 잡으니 

사탄은 간데없고 다시 지팡이로 변했습니다. 

하지만 이 지팡이는 더 이상 양을 치는 평범한 지팡이가 아닙니다 

하나님의 능력으로 변화 받은 이지팡이는 

이제 더 이상 양 떼를 치는 목동의 지팡이가 아니라 

하나님의 이적을 행하는 홍해를 가르고 반석을 쳐서 샘물을 터트리는 

하나님의 지팡이로 변화된 것입니다. 

하나님께 드려진 모세의 삶은 40년간의 미디안 광야 생활을 마감하고 

이제 더 이상 평범한 양치기가 아니라 

이스라엘 민족을 해방하는 위대한 민족의 지도자로 

하나님께 귀하게 쓰임 받게 되는 것 입니다. 

우리도 우리 손의 지팡이를 하나님 앞에 내려 놓을 때에 

하나님의 일꾼으로 귀하게 쓰임 받을 수 있습니다. 

하나님 능력으로 변화 받을 수 있습니다. 

Ex)도니 이야기 

여호와께서 또 가라사대 네 손을 품에 넣으라 하시매 

손을 품에 넣었다가 내어 보니 손에 문둥병이 발하여 눈같이 흰지라. 

여기에서 손은 우리의 행동을 나타내며 품속은 가슴, 우리의 심령을 나타냅니다. 

이 둘이 겹치면서 문둥병이 발생합니다. 

우리의 죄악상이 하나님 앞에 그대로 투영되어 보여지는 것입니다. 

당시의 문둥병은 치료될 수 없는 병이었습니다. 

우리는 하나님 앞에 문둥병자와 같은 존재입니다. 

죽을 수 밖에 없는 우리 타락한 인간의 모습이 문둥병에 반영되고 있습니다. 

그러나 두 번째 품에 넣었다 꺼내 보니 깨끗이 치료되었습니다. 

그렇습니다. 우리의 죄가 아무리 크더라도 우리의 잘못이 아무리 많더라도 

하나님 앞에 엎드릴 때 하나님은 우리를 치료해 주십니다. 

새롭게 출발할 수 있는 은혜를 주십니다. 

우리의 지금의 상태가 문둥병 같을 지라도 

우리의 죄악이 아무리 주홍빛 같을지라도 

하나님 앞에 자복할 때 우리는 용서 받을 수 있습니다. 

우리의 마음이 놓임 받을 수 있습니다. 

하나님은 죄인을 사용하십니다. 

그러나 용서 받은 죄인을 사용하십니다. 

상한 심령으로부터 회복 받은 영혼을 사용하십니다.  

우리가 하나님으로부터 쓰임 받기 전에 

먼저 치료 받는 우리가 되기를 원합니다. 

씻음 받기를 원합니다. 

그리고 성령으로 충만하기 원합니다. 

하나님으로부터 쓰임 받기 전에 

먼저 준비된 자가 되기를 원합니다. 

이럴 때에 우리는 하나님의 능력으로 변화 받을 수 있습니다. 

우리의 약함이 강건하여지고 우리의 뜨뜻미지근함이 뜨겁게 변화되어 

하나님에게 귀하게 쓰임 받게 되는 것입니다. 

오늘 이 시간 하나님의 능력이 우리모두에게 임하여 

여러분의 지팡이가 하나님의 지팡이로 변화 받게 되기를 축원합니다.
