Names of God

Father we thank you this morning 

Thank you that you dwell with in us 

And as we start to listen to your word 

let your Holy Spirit speak to our heart 

anoint your servant and flow upon your spirit so that 

I may speak your word as you have revealed 

and father give us wisdom so we may understand 

not only understand but also change our life through your Lord 

In Jesus mighty name... Amen 

In the Bible God revealed himself in many different name 

For example, Jehovah Shalom, Jehovah Jireh, El-Shaddai, Jehovah Raphah and so on 

And every name of God is like a multifaced diamond. 

And once we know what each name reveals 

We can find there is God's Character and his personality 

And as we unpack these names, 

We can enlarge our trust unto Him, 

We can worship Him more devotedly and we can rejoice in him more deeply 

so today I'd like to share with you the word of God entiled "the name of God" 

which are revealed in the Bible 

1st Jehovah Shalom (the Lord of Peace) 

ex)greeting 

in Judges 6;11-24 

God revealed himself as Jehovah Shalom. 

and shalom means peace 

brothers and sisters 

We want peace in our life 

we are searching everyday for peace 

but we can not find real peace in this world 

know when my daughter Jessica cry 

I said stop cry, I will give money 

and she stopped cry 

but actually money does not give real peace 

after five minutes she cried again 

my son Gimin likes to computer game 

so if I will allow him to play computer 

he likes but after 30 minutes he stop 

and feel bored again 

When I pulled out my tooth 

the dentist prescribe medicine-Ponstan 

which is a pain reliever 

but it doesn't take away the pain actually 

after six hours, the pain will come back 

My point is this one someone looking for peace 

in their wealth, possession, or money 

but that is not real peace 

others look for peace in entertainment, amusement, karaoke 

but none of this 

someone look for peace on drug, alcohol, shabu 

but those cannot give you peace 

actually, you cannot find real peace in this world 

so do not struggle your own strength 

to look for peace here in this world 

Our God is Jehovah Shalom 

he is the Lord who give real peace 

Bible says John 14:27 

"Peace I leave with you 

My peace I give you. 

I do not give to you as the world gives. 

Do not let your hearts be troubled 

and do not be afraid." 

Remember, Jesus Christ is our Jehovah Shalom our peace. 

And He is able to deal with all your fears and all your troubles. 

2nd Jehovah Jireh (the Lord provider) 

in genesis Chapter22;1-14 it tells us the story of abraham 

and God requesting him to sacrifice his only son whom loved 

you know as for me 

if God command me to take my son to offer as burnt sacrifice 

may be I couldn't obey that words 

but abraham obeyed 

he brought his son to mount Moriah 

and there he made an altar 

and as Abraham lifted the knife to slay his son 

at that time suddenly the Lord shout to him 

Abraham, Abraham (Sandale Teka) 

do not kill your son 

I already provide lamb as your burnt sacrifice. 

Brothers and sisters 

Just like God provided what abraham needed 

God will provide what you need 

he is still Jehovah Jireh today 

he is still the our provider 

ex) David Yonggi Cho engaged (watch) 

Brothers and sisters 

God is our provider 

He is still Jehovah Jireh 

So do not ask to your pastor 

Do not rely on your missionary 

Trust God and seek for God's provision in your life 

God is really personally involved in your life 

He knows your situation. 

He knows your needs. 

He knows the real you. 

He knows everything about you. 

So you place your trust unto God 

He is our final authority. 

He is Jehovah Jireh. 

And make Him your Jehovah Jireh everyday. 

He will provide all things that you need in this life. 

3rd, El-Shaddai (The Lord Almighty) 

 In the Bible, Genesis chapter 17;1 

When Abraham was 99 years old, 

the Lord appeared to him and said 

"I am God Almighty (here almighty is EL-Shaddai) 

I will confirm my covenant between 

you and me, you will increase your numbers 

You will be the father of many nations." 

Here in this context; 

God revealed Himself to abraham as EL-Shaddai 

And EL means God and Shaddai means mighty, powerful 

So our God is almighty 

Almighty is the name of God and His personality (amen?) 

Brothers and sisters 

As you know, when Abraham was 75 years old 

God appeared to him and promised to give him a child 

So Abraham waited and waited, 

5 years, 10 years, 20 years. 

He waited for long, 

long time for God to fulfill his promise 

Yet nothing happened. 

And now Abraham's age is 99 years old. 

He was too old to have a child 

So he almost gives up all hope 

At all time, God appeared to him again and says 

"I am EL-Shaddai. I will confirm my promise to you." 

Here, this is the point; 

When you think that you can do something, 

God will not work for you 

but when you think you can not do anything, 

by own strength, 

no matter what you do nothing works, at that time, 

God's work is starting on you. 

So when your situation is hopeless, 

and it seems like you are sunk in the depth of despair, 

then walk before God who is EL-Shaddai 

and know that he is almighty. 

The God of Abraham who is EL-Shaddai 

is the same God who is with us today. 

Do you believe that God is almighty? Amen. 

ill) one story 

There is Bishop who prays all the time 

he always start pray like this 

"Lord almighty God today you speak to me" 

one day when he pray as he use to 

"Lord almighty God today you speak to me" 

then suddenly there is sound 

"Yes I am" 

when he heard that voice, he was shocked and died by heart attack 

Bible says Matthew chapter 13:58 

"And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith. " 

Jesus do not miracle in his hometown because of their lack of Faith 

no faith no miracle 

brother and sisters 

Our God is almighty 

he has all power 

he is omnipotence 

so trust God our almighty 

Believe God who is El-Shaddai. 

then God will fulfill his wonderful work unto your life 

and you will experience great miracle in your life through God's almighty 

4 Jehovah Rapha (the Lord healer) 

in Exodus chapter 15: 26 ti says 

I will not bring on you any of diseases, for I am Jehovah Rapha 

(the Lord who heals) 

Here God reveals his Nature that Jehovah Rapha 

Rapha means "restore, to heal, to make healthy" 

Brother and sisters 

Healing is the name and nature of God 

and his power is the same yesterday today and forever 

he is still our healer today 

he wants to heal our broken heart 

he wants to heal our physical sickness by his power today 

ill)in 2002 when I went to mountain mission trip with korean bible student for 7 days, in Batawang there is one who was sick for 5 years he always stayed in bed 

and we entered his house. I said "until he Healed you pray" and we start to pray for him 10min.~but nothing happened, he didn't get well. so I told him you believe Jesus is our healer and keep on praying and we went out of his house. after 2 weaks later when I went back to Batawang church, he attend church service. 

ill)lusong 

God is our healer 

he is still Jehovah Rapha 

and he is with us today 

and he invites you to experience the healing that he has come to offer 

he wants to touch you 

he wants heal your sickness 

he wants to shower his awesome power on you today 

he wants to perform miracle in your life today for his glory 

so make him your Jehovah Rapha today 

he will heal you in all areas of your lives 

5th Jehovah Sammah ( The Lord is there) 

long time ago there was a great missionary in the seminary 

and there were many student in the seminary 

but the missionary likes one student very much 

He was not handsome and he does not study very well 

but the Pastor liked him very much 

So the others got jealous of him 

One day other students went to the Pastor and they asked him, 

"Why do you like him very much?" 

Then the Pastor told them 

Okay, I'll give you one assignment, when you solve it then you 

will understand why I like him. 

Now, I'll give one sparrow to each one of you 

And go somewhere and kill your sparrow 

But there is one condition, when you kill the sparrow, 

nobody should see it 

So they went to some places and they started to kill it 

Some went to the CR and killed it 

The others went to their dormitory and killed it 

Some went to the mountain and checked 

if there is nobody and killed it 

And they went back to Pastor with their dead sparrow 

But one student whom the pastor really liked 

did not come back at once 

After dark, he finally came back 

But his sparrow is still alive 

So the other students laughed at him 

You see, even he couldn't solve a simple assignment 

Pastor asked him, why didn't you kill the sparrow? 

And he answered with weeping eyes, "Pastor I couldn't find a place 

where there is no one to see, 

Because God is everywhere." 

When the Holy city Jerusalem was rebuilt in Israel 

The Prophet Ezekiel said 

Jehovah Sammah, it means the Lord is there (Ezekiel 48:35) 

and the same God is right here with us today 

His name is Jehovah Sammah 

we are together with God (sama sama) 

God is alive and his present is with us all the time 

Jehovah Sammah is with you all the time everyday 

when you work in your office, He is there with you 

when you stay at home, he is there with you 

when you sleep in your bed, he is there in your bed 

Because you are the temple of God 

God always dwells with in you 

So I can call all of you- Jehovah Sammah 

The Lord is here, there and there. 

Matthew 28;20 "And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age" 

Hebrew 13;5 "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you" 

remember brothers and sisters 

no matter where you are today, God is with you 

and protect you and guide your life  amen 

sing 

and I stand I stand in awe of you 

I stand I stand in awe of you 

holy God, to whom all praise is due. 

I stand in awe of you 

pray 

Once again we thank you for letting us gathering here 

to worship you and praise you 

and thank you Lord the message that you have given to us today 

and I pray in the name of Jesus 

you come to us as Jehovah Rapha 

you touch our broken heart 

you heal our physical sickness 

and you come to us Jehovah shalom 

give us Lord your perfect Peace and Joy 

yes Father you are our almighty our El-shaddai 

and father you keep on showering your tremendous power in our lives 

and Father as you revealed Jehovah Jireh 

you provide all thing that we need in our life 

so that we have victory for your glory 

thank you father 

you are so good and great we give all the glory, honor and praise to you
