The Law of sowing and reaping 

First of all, I would like to congratulate you on your 12th church anniversary foundation 

It is indeed an honor and privilege to be here on your special occasion. 

May GOD continue to bless upon this church and continue to use this church in winning souls for our Lord 

Today I want speak to you about “Law of sowing and reaping” 

Turn with me Galatians 6:7-10 

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 

The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap and harvest if we do not give up. 

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers” 

  

Today’s passage verse 7 says that do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 

Psalms 126:5 Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy 

Ecclesiaste 11:1 Cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will find it again. 

2nd Thessalonians 3:10 “If a man will not work, he shall not eat." 

All of our life is planting. 

Thinking is planting 

Speaking is planting 

And acting is also planting 

Meaning we will harvest as we think, speak and act 

It is the same our Christian life 

Personal prayer is planting 

Daily bible reading is planting 

Attending the church is planting 

We will harvest as we plant that is the law of life 

If we plant bad, then the harvest will be bad 

But If what we are sowing is good Seed, it will bring Good Harvest 

This Law of sowing and reaping is the same yesterday and today 

Even science has made remarkable progress in these days, this law will not change until Jesus coming 

As we plant, we will harvest 

If we plant camote we will harvest camote 

If we plant sayote we will harvest sayote 

We can not get sayote when we plant camote 

if we plant small we will harvest small 

if we plant big we will harvest big 

This is the law of nature which God has given to us 

You know why the world is in confusion nowadays 

It is because they want to harvest without planting 

Because they want to harvest big with small planting 

This is deceiving themselves, deceiving God 

Who will harvest without working 

it is robber, thief, defrauder 

In conclusion, they will go to jail and will be failure (loser) in their life 

We have to know this one, brothers and sisters 

Someone who became successful, did not just sit and did nothing 

Success in life does not come accidently 

That is the result of planting with tears 

That is a result of planting for 10 years, 20 years 

It is because he work hard constantly 

It is because he overcome many difficulties, hardship with perseverance 

So that they become successful 

We do not see his progress (his tears, his hardship)  

We only see his result (fruit) and we say “Oh he is lucky” 

for example, this church 

This church will not be like this overnight 

With much tears of prayer and hard work in ministry 

This church became what it is today. 

Brothers and sisters 

Let’s be a planter all together 

So that we will harvest in the time of harvest amen 

Today we are talking about law of sowing and reaping 

And I want all of you to apply this rule in your Christian life 

No1. Forget your previous harvest 

The farmer, whether they have good or bad harvest 

They continue farming in New Year 

They do not stop in farming 

For example 

You planted potato last year. 

And you had plenty of harvest 

(oh still I have many potato) 

So will you stop farming this year? 

of course not 

On the contrary 

You planted carrot last year but had few product this time 

And you are angry but will you stop farming 

Of course not 

Brothers and sisters 

My point is this one 

Do not stick with your past 

Whether it is good or bad, Past is past 

Whatever we did last year, last month, last week, even yesterday is over and past. 

Nothing we do today can in any way change the record of what was sown 

Forget your previous harvest 

I mean 

Do not let the past determine your future 

Don’t allow the past to hold you in bondage. 

Bible says in Luke9:62 "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God." 

Just focus to Jesus and go forward 

Faith is facing ahead 

Faith is facing tomorrow 

As Apostle Paul testified in Philippians 3:13 

Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. 

So no matter how many harvest you still have 

Whatever your previous harvest is 

Let us continue farming today again for the glory of God 

No2. We have to sow the seed 

even though you have big lot if you do not plant you don't have harvest 

No plant no harvest 

I tell you one story 

One Korean student came here to study 

But actually he does not go to school 

Instead of going to school 

in the morning he go to internet and play computer games 

In the afternoon, He goes to 456 and play pocket ball 

in the evening he goes to drinking house, drinks with his friends the whole night 

You know, he stayed here in the Philippines already 10 years 

But not yet a graduate 

and I don’t know when he will graduate 

He waste time and money 

He missed the opportunity 

So one day he ask me ptr. do you know where to make falsification  “why” 

Ptr. Mahirap to study here, 

I want to go back to Korea 

But if I go back without graduate certification 

My mother will get angry at me 

so I am thinking that i will make fake certification so that  I can go home 

And I told him “it’s better you die” 

  

Brothers and sisters 

Everything has a time (season) 

Time to plant, time to harvest 

Time to work, time to sleep 

Because he did not study when the time of study he could not graduate until now 

Because he didn’t plant when time to plant he has no harvest 

What time is it now for you? 

What time is your time? 

For everything there is a time 

And the time is not waiting for you 

So when it is the time of planting 

We have to plant Amen 

People want to harvest without planting 

That is the problem 

people want the benefits without paying the price. 

This is problem 

Do you know Why the lottery is so popular? 

Becoz It’s an opportunity to become wealthy without labor. 

You know why they like to watch Pera or bayong 

Because they can get house or million instantly, if they are lucky 

But brothers and sisters I tell you something 

there is no free lunch here in this world 

You don't get something for nothing 

No plant no harvest 

So I want all of you plant today for the glory of God amen 

I will give you an illustration 

There was a ship, met a storm in the see 

Because of the storm the boat was wrecked 

and reached a deserted island. 

The passengers were waiting in the island for rescuers 

But nobody came to rescue them. 

Their food is limited 

So they were looking for extra food in the broken ship 

but what they found was only seed. 

they said, “there is seed” 

“we don’t know when we can be rescued” 

“Let’s dig and plant the seed so we can survive.” 

Later as they were digging, for planting 

One of them found gold in the ground 

And he said there is gold 

Really,, where ???… 

And every body looked for gold 

They were digging all the island  

They forgot to plant the seed. 

Instead, they dig around the island looking for gold. 

Few weeks later, they got much gold. 

And they were all tired and exhausted 

But there’s no food 

Then, they realized, they didn’t plant the seed. 

They have gold but there is no food anymore 

So later on, they all died. 

Finally, the rescuers came and they discovered them dead around the pile of gold. 

Brothers and sisters 

We should plant so that we will have harvest 

We plant now so that we have tomorrow. 

If you do not plant in the time to plant 

You will go out weeping in the time of harvest 

No3 we have to tend the plant 

When we sow the seed 

That is not the end 

We have to continue taking care of our plant 

And until harvest time we have to care for our plant very well 

Weeding, watering , defending against disease and bugs … 

We have to care for our plant so that we will have much harvest 

I use to go to Casibu and every time I go there Ptr. James give me lot of citrus 

One day ptr James told me because of ministry and church building I have no time to care for my citrus so that it is not sweet and not much harvest 

He didn’t prune the branch 

He didn’t care for his citrus 

So that little harvest 

Brothers and sisters 

It is the same with our Christian life 

To have plenty harvest we have to prune ourselves 

Bible says in John 15:2 

He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 

We have to prune our plant, our tree 

Even there is a high quality grapevine 

if not pruned regularly 

and left it alone, 

it will become wild grape 

that is why it needs to be pruned every year 

Like this we need to prune our lives 

If there is hindrance in the way of our Christian life  

We need to cut off that one 

American Sociologist John Breathy Show says. “If you want to go, You have to be able to say good- bye.” 

And it’s true 

If you really want to be a successful Christian, if you really want to become a fruitful Christian 

You have to say good bye 

Goodbye tanduay . tongit . 

No4 Finally we will harvest 

Ecclesiastes11:1 says: “Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days” 

And today‘s passage in verse 9 

‘let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” 

Brothers and sisters here we have to know one thing 

The harvest will not come immediately after planting 

There is a time when you plant and there is a time when you harvest, 

but these are not the same time. 

If you plant petchy you have to wait around 1month to harvest 

It you plant carrot then you have to wait around 3 month to harvest 

If you plant mango tree then you have to wait around 5 years to harvest 

So once again we have to remember 

The harvest comes in a different season from the planting of the seed 

Diba After wedding, 10 month later, probably you will 

harvest, you will have a baby 

Marry today and you can not have baby tomorrow 

By the way I saw a couple got married and after 5 months, they had a baby 

Brothers and sisters 

I know that the summer is long, 

I know that the harvest seems far off, 

and we struggle to see even the flowers let alone the fruit of our effort, 

but the harvest is promised. 

Don’t give up. 

The harvest will come amen 

I will conclude my sermon with one story

My point is this one what we see what we listen what we eat will come out 

Meaning, everything we sow eventually bears fruit. It’s the law of sowing and reaping. If what we’re sowing is bad, then the harvest will be bad, 

If what we are sowing is good Seed, it will bring Good Harvest 

What will you plant today? 

I remember my grand mother 

She is farmer 

When she harvest corn 

She choose the most nice and big corn 

And dried it under the roof during the winter 

and next year she plant again 

brothers and sisters 

the empty heads of grain can not be a seed for plant 

we have to choose the best grain 

What do you have in your hand? 

Among what you have 

Best one you plant today 

once again congratulate for your anniversary 

and we know during your 12th years you have many harvest 

but your mission is not finished now you choose the most nice one 

and plant today again  

then you will harvest 30 times 60 time and 100 times 

in God’s time – in his appoint season 

remember bible says in revelation 22;12 

Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done.
