As we know Jesus Christ has been crucified.
And He was resurrection from the dead.
And He spent 40 days on earth with His disciples.
After that Jesus said to disciples.
It’s the time that I leave you
And I will send a comforter, a counselor.
The Holy Spirit will come and will be with you.
And give you power, courage and vision.
And you will be my witness to the ends of the earth.
And then Jesus has ascended into heaven.
After this event
The disciples were so confused.
There, they were not sure how all of this is going to turn out.
They were not sure just what they were supposed to do next.
They didn’t fully understand all that has happened.
They didn’t know exactly what their task is yet.
They were just returned to the Jerusalem
They were seated and just waiting, waiting and wondering~~
Then suddenly on the Pentecost day
They heard a sound.
They rush of might wind.
The breath of God is blowing on that place.
Immediately they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.
But someone said “O they are just drunk.”
At that time, Peter stood up and begun to speak.
“ No, these men are not drunk
the Spirit of God is upon them.
And I tell you
Jesus of Nazareth the one you crucified,
God has raised him up
He has appeared to us
Now listen carefully
He is the Son of God.
The Lord of life
The Savior of the whole world.”
When the crowd heard that they were surprised
And ashamed of what they have done
“You mean we were tried to kill the Son of God?
Oh no, then what shall we do.”
Peter answered
“It’s not too late
God in Grace will for give you.
Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus
For the forgiveness of your sins
and you also will receive this gift of the Holy Spirit.”
And that day 3000 souls were saved
Brothers and sisters
The this powerful story of Pentecost has much to teach us
You know, Peter the man, who was before a fisherman,
He was the man who denied Jesus
When Jesus was about to be crucified.
But now he is totally different
He dare preach to the crowd.
How come? That’s becoz of power of the Holy Spirit
By the power of the Holy Spirit
Peter’s ordinary be transformed into the extraordinary.
Brothers and sisters
The point is clear
They were not drunk
They were not filled with wine.
They were filled with the Holy Spirit.
And now it’s clear that we also need to get Holy Spirit.
Let us ask God anoint us with power of the Holy Spirit.
When we want this grace above everything else
God will surely give it to us
If our heart is filled with the Holy Spirit
How is Satan going to get in?
How is the world going to get in?
We can defeat and have a victory all the time
Through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Have you this fullness?
If you have not
Then seek it by the grace of God
You will have it.
For it is the father’s good pleasure to give us these things.
Brothers and sisters
But there is condition for receive it
We have to consider it
Shall we open the Bible in Galatians’ 5:16~17
“So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.”
If we live in Holy Spirit
We will not satisfy the desires of sinful nature.
But if we live in sinful nature
We will not satisfy the Holy Spirit.
Becoz these two are enemies.
That’s why before fill our hearts with the Holy Spirit
Our hearts should be emptied.
Something that against God’s Law
We have to through it first. Before we fill it
If we are filled with something like pleasure of the sinful nature
Then there is no room for the Spirit of God.
Many Christians is praying to God to fill him
When he is full already with something else.
Brothers and sisters
Before we pray that God would fill us
We should to pray Him to empty us.
There must be empting before there can be a filling.
When our heart is turned up side down
And everything is turned out that is against God
Then the Spirit will come.
I stay in Baguio city
As you know in Baguio there is water problem
The water supply only comes 2 times a week
That is the why most of the house in Baguio city
They have water tank.
With out water tank it is difficult to use the water continuously.
When the water is full in the tank
The water pressure is very strong in the faucet
But when the water is little in the tank
The water pressure is week
Like the water tank
We also need to over flow by the Holy Spirit.
If we over flow we can have a power to defeat Satan’s power
We can have a victory in our life
And we can share God’s blessing to others
When we are not full of the Holy Spirit
We cannot share God’s blessing to others
How could we use it if there’s no water?
Today’s passage says, “Be filled with the Spirit.”
The word ‘be filled’ is a command.
It is not optional
And it lays responsibility upon the believer
We are commanded to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Becoz it is impossible to live the Christian life on any other basis
The Christian’s life is to be lived in the power of the Holy Spirit not self.
It cannot be lived in our own week strength
But must be lived by the power of the Spirit of God.
Ex) my Bible school.
In the Bible acts 2:4
We read the great moment what is Pentecost day.
The disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit.
And that day 3000 souls turn over to God.
And if we read continue the Acts of the Apostles
We can see also in acts 4:31
They have got the power of the Holy Spirit again.
What does it mean?
It means we need constantly reviving and refilling our selves with the Holy Spirit.
Like water tank when there’s no water in the water tank we have to refill that time for use water
It’s the same with our soul
When our spiritual life seemed dry and empty
We have to refill by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Brother and sisters
Be filled with the Holt Spirit
Make it over flow always
Then you will live powerful Christian life.
You will have a victory in your life
May God bless all of you.
