God is all knowing (Psalms 139;1~16)

Longtime ago there was a great missionary in the seminary 

And there ware many students in the seminary 

but Pastor like only one student than others. 

He was not handsome and He does not study very well 

but Pastor likes him very much. 

So the others jealous of him 

One day the other students went to Pastor and they asked 

Pastor why do you like him very much? 

Then Pastor told them 

Okay I’ll give you one assignment when you solve it then you will understand why I like him. 

Now I’ll give sparrow to each one of you 

And you go somewhere and kill your sparrow 

but there is condition when you kill the sparrow should nobody see it 

So they went to some places and they started to kill it 

Some one went to the CR and killed it 

The others went to their dormitory and killed it 

Some went to the mountain and checked 

if there is nobody and killed it 

And they went back to Pastor with their dead sparrow  

But one student whom the pastor really liked 

did not came back at once 

After dark, he finally came back 

But his sparrow is still alive 

So the other students laughed at him 

You see, even he couldn’t solve like a simple assignment. 

Pastor asked him, why you didn’t kill that sparrow? 

And he answered with weeping eyes, “Pastor I couldn’t find a place where there is no one to see me, 

Becoz God is every where.” 

Then Pastor smiled, this is the reason why I love him. 

Brothers and sisters 

God is every where and anywhere 

God is alive and his present is with us all the time 

But the problem is some times we forget God’s presence. 

When we pray to the Lord we can feel that God is with us 

When we worship in the church we know that God is with us 

But when we go out of the church we easily forget God. 

Oftentimes, during weekdays when we are working or studying 

We live without God and when the following Sunday comes, we remember. Oh! Today is Sunday, I have to go to church and started looking for their Bible. 

Brothers and sisters 

I want all of you to feel the presence of God all the time every day 

I want all of you to meet God, not only in the church but also in your home or in your office 

Amen? 

Brothers and sisters 

Today’s passage gives us an understanding of the right thoughts about God that will make a difference in our lives 

1 God is all knowing 

brothers and sisters can I ask something? 

Whom do you really know? I mean whom do you know very well? 

some one will answer i know my mother, father, or friends ……. 

any way It is very difficult to know someone. diva? 

When I met my wife, I was attracted to her because she was shy, 

she has good manners. 

But when we got married and lived together, 

oh my gosh, she's not that shy anymore onething more she's big eater. 

I got cheated by chit 

Brothers and sisters, it is the same with others 

We will never know who they are even we have an intimate 

relationship with them. 

It is very difficult to know someone 

Because somehow, inside and outside is different. 

Oftentime people put a mask on their faces that we cannot see 

and know who really they are. 

But brothers and sisters God knows who we are, one by one 

He knows us very well even inside and out 

As we have read in today’s scripture (vv. 1-6) 

it says that God knows everything 

Theologians call this God’s omniscience 

God knows us personally (individually) 

He knows our name, nature, needs, and even he knows the number of hair on our head. 

Do you know how many hairs do you have? 

Maybe you do not know but God knows. 

He knows better than I know myself 

He knows us intimately, including our actions and our thoughts. 

Even before we speak, he already knows what we will say 

He knows everything about us 

So what should be our response to this? 

(are you afraid becoz God knows you all? 

you wanna hidden something from God) 

Brothers and sisters 

God has a thorough knowledge of us 

We couldn’t hide anything from him 

So be open and honest with Him 

Then He can lead and bless you. 

Some times we slip down but God still understands 

Sometimes we become weak infront of temptation but God never condemn us 

We are not perfect because we are only human being but God can make us perfect 

Brothers and sisters 

All we have to do is strive to do His will and he will Guide you and keep you and lead you 

God made you and wants to fulfill in your life the plans that he made for you. Amen? 

Think about it, our Father in heaven understands us personally and intimately and that his hand is upon us. 

We are not afraid in any situation 

Because God knows all about our situation 

We can give thanks in any difficulties 

Because God knows everything 

What an encouragement to know that our father in heaven knows all about us-where we are and what we are doing. 

Praise the Lord, thank Lord. 

2 God is everywhere. 

I tell you a story. 

There was a man who made a research about the different churches in the 

Philippines. 

So he went to Manila and went into a big church, as he was interviewing the pastor, he saw a golden telephone on the wall with a sign above it that read P1,000 , curiously he asked the pastor " What is that telephone for ?",and the pastor replied "that is a direct line to Heaven and if you pay the price you can talk to God."  

Again the researcher travelled, when he reached Angeles, Tarlac, Urdaneta finding more phones with the same signs and the same answers from the Pastors. 

And finally he travelled to Baguio, he again entered a church and saw the same telephone there, but to his surprise the sign is only P5.00. Wondering, he asked the pastor, "Is this a direct line to God? and the pastor replied,"Yes, it is." again he asked "Pastor how come it is only P5?" and told about the other churches he visited. And gladly the pastor said, brother this is the highland and we are very near to heaven so it is like local and not long distance. 

That's a funny story, but it makes a person think. Is God located right here in  Baguio and that's why it's a long distance call from anywhere else? I don't think so. 

And as we continue to read today’s scripture (vv. 7-12) 

it says that God is everywhere. 

Another word we call it omnipresence 

Have you ever tried to run away from God? 

I tried but I couldn’t escape from God 

After I graduated from bible school I didn’t minister at once 

I want to live my life by myself not in God’s will 

But finally I recognized this one 

The more I run away, the more God spank me and the more I run to God the more God blesses me. 

In the bible Jeremiah 23; 23~24 

“I am a God who is everywhere and not in one place only 

No one can hide where I cannot see them do you not know that I am everywhere in heaven and on earth?” 

God is not a localized deity whom it is easy to avoid 

He is inescapable 

Maybe you know the story of Jacob 

He has a twin brother with Esau. 

And as we know Esau sold to Jacob His rights as the first-born son 

That’s why father, blessed Jacob instead of Esau 

After that his brother Esau tried to kill Jacob 

So he had to run away from his house 

When he left his hometown he had a lot of suffering 

He went around to foreign places 

One day when he laid down to sleep, resting his head on a stone. 

He dreamed that he saw a stairway reaching from earth to heaven, with angels going up and coming down. 

And there was the Lord standing and he says (Genesis 28; 15) 

“Remember I will be with you and protect you wherever you go and I will bring you back to this land, I will not leave you until I have done all that I have promised you” 

And Jacob woke up from sleeping and he said (Genesis 28; 16) 

“The Lord is here He is in this place and I didn’t know it” 

Brothers and sisters 

Jacob thought that he is alone in that foreign place. 

He thought that God is only in the church /his hometown. 

But after his dream, he realized that God is everywhere 

Yes brothers and sisters 

God is here, he is there and everywhere and he protect us and guide us. 

Do you know how God guide us? 

In the Bible Psalms 34;7 

It says, “His angel guards those who honor the Lord and rescue them from danger” 

Like Jacob, when he strayed in the wilderness, God sent an angel to him. 

When we are in wilderness, when we are in trouble, 

God send his angel and guard us. 

Like a president who has bodyguards to protect him, 

God’s angel is our bodyguard, amen? 

And Psalms 34;15 

“The Lord watches over the righteous and listens to their cries” 

Like a mother who never loose sight of her baby 

And when the baby cries, the mother runs to baby and check 

“Anong problema baby ko?” 

Like this concern 

God watches over us /He sees everything 

So when we have problem 

Cry out to the Lord /pray to the Lord 

Then God will answer our prayer. Amen? 

While ago I mentioned about Jacob 

Now I will tell you about his son Joseph for a while 

Because Joseph had been born to Jacob in his old age 

He loved Joseph more than all his other sons 

That’s why his brothers sold him into Egypt because of jealousy. 

And there he worked in Potiphar’s house 

But the problem is Joseph was well-built and Good-looking (Gen39; 7) like me 

So Potiphar’s wife tempted him to go to bed with her 

But Joseph refused “No God is seeing us” 

And she turned the Egyptian idol, that is their god, other way round 

I mean she turn around a statue of their god 

“Now, god couldn’t see us” 

And Joseph reply “Maybe your God couldn’t see us but My God sees us” 

Brother and sisters 

God is everywhere 

If you go up to heaven, He is there 

And if you make your bed in hell, He is there 

And He sees everything, He watches over us. 

We couldn’t escape from God 

So we couldn’t flee from God 

It is better we flee to God 

What are the blessings of fleeing to God? 

If you have problems, difficulties and sin 

Run to God 

The Lord’s presence kept Paul going during difficult time 

Like Paul, we need to discover that no matter how difficult a situation is, the Lord is with us 

When we run to the Lord 

We receive courage, comfort and strength for the battle in our lives. 

Hide in the Lord 

He is the only place of safety and satisfaction. Amen? 

And 3rd God is all-power 

Today’s passage in verse 13~16 

It says God made us 

He created you and me 

He is a creator 

He is almighty 

Another word we call it omnipotence 

Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” God did not discover the heavens and the earth, but God created the heavens and the earth. God made something out of nothing. He is all-powerful to this very day. Man makes great discoveries today, but God is behind all of these discoveries. Man does not make something out of nothing. Man discovers what God has already put in place. After God created the heavens and the earth, the sun and the moon, the land, seas and vegetation, the fish, birds and all the animals, he created human-beings. God is indeed all-powerful. 

I tell you one story 

There is a bishop who prays all the time 

He always start to pray “Lord almighty God today you speak to me” as habitually 

One day when he prayed as he used to 

“Lord almighty God today you speak to me” 

Then suddenly there is sound 

“Yes I’m here.” 

When he heard the sound he was shocked and he died by heart failure 

This story tells us something 

Many Christians say almighty, almighty as a habit 

But they really do not believe that God is almighty. 

Brothers and sisters 

Do you believe that God is almighty? 

If you believe that God is almighty in your life 

How great courage we have. 

If we believe firmly that God, who is almighty, protects us 

How powerful we become 

If we truly believe that God is almighty 

Why worry about our life? 

If we go through the life of Moses, 

He believed God is almighty. 

Therefore he could experience great miracle through God’s almighty. 

If you believe that God is almighty 

Then you will also experience miracles in your life 

Because he’s power is the same yesterday, today and forever 

Brothers and sisters 

God did not only made this world but also reign in this world 

If we truly believe that God is almighty 

We can have a victory all the time 

Even Satan tries to tempt us 

He couldn’t destroy us 

Because God is almighty and he will protect us and guide us 

So I have peace in the middle of turbulence 

I have joy in the middle of a raging wind 

Because the almighty God helps us 

Now I remind you once again the right thoughts about God that will make a difference. 

1st, God is all knowing (omniscience) 

2nd, God is everywhere and (omnipresence) 

3rd, God is almighty (omnipotence) 

Now brothers and sisters 

What will be your response? 

Will you flee from God or 

Will you flee to God? 

Now I will conclude my sermon with a question 

From Baguio to Manila, which way is the fastest way? 

By bus, by car, by airplane? 

The answer is go or travel with a loved one. 

You might asked why I said with a loved one? 

If you travel with somebody especially with a loved one, 

Even if the road is rough or even if it take you a lot of time traveling 

Time passes by so fast without you even knowing it 

Because you don’t feel bored and you feel happy. diba? 

Brothers and sisters, do you love God? 

Do you believe God loves you? 

Then, its better you travel your life with your love one who is the Lord. 

So don’t run away from God instead run to God.

Heavenly father, we thank you once again for the wonderful message 

that will help us live a victorious life. 

We thank you for letting us know who you really are in our lives
