Graduation sermon to bethel

and congratulation to all graduates, May God bless your life and your ministry 

Today I'd like to share the massage  through the book of Philippians.

and the tiltle is "God will finish what he started in us" 

 

 Philippians 1:1-6 
1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, 
  To all God’s holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons 
2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 
3 I thank my God every time I remember you.

4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy

5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now,

6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion

   until the day of Christ Jesus

 

(Pray)

Father! we thank you this morning

and thank you what you have done in our lives

we thank you that your faithful to us everyday

and father this is the time to listen to your word

and I pray in the name of Jesus

Let Your Holy Spirit take full control of this service

Father, you anoint this service with your power 

and bless your people 

Thank You for your presence

in Jesus name we pray Amen. 

 

Most of the members of the Philippian Church were Gentiles and pagan, not Jews. 

In other words, they were non believers who had never heard about Jesus Christ . 

but when anthioc church send apostle Paul as a missionnary to Europe ,

through the evangelism of the apostle Paul,

the philippian Church was estabilished 

actually Philippian church was the 1st church in Europe

and most of Philiipian church member

they were all new believers, they were all new begginners 

that is why sometimes thay had new issues and problems arose

Although Phippian church had some problems

God is still working  for them and through them

the Philippian church helped those who were committed to the ministry of the gospel 

they send love offering to Paul 

even they help other church despite having problems within the church

 

Brothers and sisters 

Everybody has a problem or difficulties in their lives

Financial problem, health problem,  or relational matter  and so on

Basta every body has a problem when we’re living in this world

One time Grace kim (David yonggi cho's wife) says 

"small church has small problem big church has a big problem"

so we laughed once

and yes it is true,  Even church has a problem

Even ABC, we have problem but i tell you something

God is still working Good work through ABC

and God will continue to work  though ABC 

 

and onething more  we should know this one

There is no problem without solution /answer

Bible says (1st Cor. 10 :13 )

God will not allow the temptation to be more than we can stand.  Amen?

God will make a way even there is no way amen?

Are you worried about what you will do after graduation?

Don't worry God will guide you

God will lead you and God will be with you

 

Today,the tiltle is "God will finish what he started in us" 

through  todays scripture what i want pocus today is  3 things 

1st  We are all partners in the Gospel together

In Korea there is saying

You meet your enemy on the single log bridge 

meaning if you have enimy 

someday you will meet your animy again 

So do not make anybody  your  enemy

we should have good relationship with everybody 

do you know Onesimus 

(In the book of Philemon, there is Onesimus)

He is Philemon's Slave

one day Onesimus had robbed his master Philemon's money and fled to Rome

and in the  Rome's prison he met apostle Paul 

and Paul sent back him to Philemon 

Onesimus  stole philemon's money and ran away but they met again 

 

there is no escape your enimy 

you will meet him someday in somewhere

so we should have a good relationship with a people around us

Ministry is relationship

so do not make anybody to your enimy amen?

in the philippines there is word Pakikisama

meaning "to get along with each other "

this is good Philippines value 

be friend everyone

make a good relationship to others 

 

Today's passage verse 1 it says  "Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus,

To all God’s holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons "

 

Paul and Timothy (as you know Timothy was Paul's disiple)

but now they are together 

Like wise we are all partners in the gospel together.

If you are a part of the church

if you belong to Christ,

then you are a partner in the gospel amen?

Paul and timothy were partners in the Gospel togerther 

Ptr sung and Ptr________ were patners in the gospel together 

 

you know 

The gospel brings people from different backgrounds together

Notice this Paul says  "To all God’s holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together "

 

in the Philippian church

there was a wealthy busines woman whos name is Lydia 

and there is a Philppian jailer and his family 

and there is even a girl who is a slave 

they all come from differnt backgrounds

but they are all together

you know The gospel is the great unifier. 

People from different social, racial and economic backgrounds all gather together in the church, 

 

maybe in this place 

there is 칸카나이 이발루이 이프가오  and kreano but now we are all together

 

Bible says (Galatians 3:28 )

There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.
The gospel brings people from different backgrounds together.

so build up good relationship each other 

and go together and work together for the glory of God and kingdom of God 

 

2) pray for others 

 

Bible says (마태 19 ;26)

"With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.(x2강조)

God is our solver

And he is able to solve our problems

And he is willing to solve our problem 

Bible says in psalms 16; 8 “I keep my eyes always on the LORD.~~, I will not be shaken”

So we have to be with God always

Bring ourselves, to realize the continual presence of God, 

in happiness or in trouble.

Then nothing can shake us

Continue to fellowship with God

 

마가 14;54 when  Jesus was arrested, peter followed Jesus at a distance ( afar off )

Do not follow Jesus at a distance

if you getting a far a way from Jesus

Enemy becomes near to you

And temptation comes to you

Peter sees Jesus from a far place with enemy

And some one says  you are one them

Then peter said I don’t know who Jesus is, what are you talking about

He denied Jesus

And bible says Jams 4;4

Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

 

So brothers and sisters

When we follow Jesus

Do not tambay

Peter getting far from Jesus and getting close to enemy

So be close to with God

Draw near to God throu prayer and he will draw near to us amen 

 

and when we pray , pray for others 

onetime I pray in ABC chaple and when i came out 

then one of ABC student asked me 

ptr sung "who did you pray for ?"

and I answered for the philippines 

and he suprised for the philippines?~~~~~~

 

brothers and sisters when we pray, pray for others amen?

Today's passage  verse 4 it says "In all my prayers for all of you,"

Everytime Paul pray , he pray for the Philipians church 

Like this we also should pray for others 

This is we call it "intercessory prayer"

Apostle paul pray for others

and he is asking to us to pray for others 

 

and we have to know this one

The Bible is clear that all Christians are called to be intercessors.

we are to intercede for one another.

In Ephesians 6:18  "always keep on praying for all the saints. "

pray for all the saints 

pray for your church members

you know 

good churches are churches that pray for each other

and to do that, we need to know each other well.

when we know churchmembers  problems and situations and who is sick,

the more we want to pray for them. right?

And when we are praying for each other, our prayer is more powerful

so let's pray for each other.

pray for your church members 

pray for your pastors 

 

you know everytime Ptr ----- calls me 

he is asking ----- church 

and he says please say hello to them 

and tell them we always pray for ------ church 

remember that someone is pray for you everyday 

and you also pray for others amen

 

you know, in korea, i have many sponser of prayer 

my relative my friend pastors and church leachers are pray for me 

specially my mother, she pray for me every day 

and every time i think some one is pray for me 

It gives me strength.

i'm encouriged 

their prayer is my driving force to continue missionary life-

here in here in the philippines. 

if not thier  prayer, i already stopped 

 

pray for others bothers and sisters 

the most deserving prayer is intercessory prayer
The most powerful prayer is praying for others 

Jesus prayed even for his enemies.

(He prayed  the one who kills Himself)

"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."

so we need pray for others 

Make a prayer list of people you will pray for

and pray for them 

pray for your pastors 

pray for your nation

pray for who doesn't know Jesus christ 

bible James 5;16

~~~pray for each other so that you may be healed.

(The prayer of a righteous person) is powerful and effective.

no 3 God will finish what he started in us

나의 출생 – I was born in Christian family

When I come out this world 

Im already chistian

And we are Presbyterian

 (as you know Korean strong denomination is Presbyterian )

 

 my mother and father go to prayer mountain 

 they got 성령세레

after that we transfer to AG  church

coz 장로 교회  마따방 like roman catholic here  Holy~

when we transfer to AG / we can jump when we prays and worship

 we can pray with loud voice ~~

then all our relative come to our house

they said AG is culto –they are crazy group

and my Father said yes we are crazy for Jesus

고등학교 졸업이 가까와짐

아버지 call me and said “sit down” –it is very serious

I live for u for 18 years

Now you go bible school only 1 semester  after that it’s up to you

So I enter bible school

(over night prayer - you hold oen pine tree  and pray untill the roots are pullout)

one day  when we have a overnight prayer in the mountain

at 1st I read bible 히브리서 (히브리서 10;10절

we have been made holy ~~~

before I know it but now I belive it

we 에 내가 포함 /2000년 전 나는 이미 holy-coz of Jesus

Holy Spirit touched me ~~crying. 콧물 –눈물

From that time  할렐루야 -아빠 나 신학교 졸업할께요

 

신학교 후 군대에감 (i enter the army/airborne troops  )

그리고 필리핀에옴 – 선교

 and when i recall my past 

i remember my old days 

God  had a plan for me 

기독교 집안 태어나고

아버지 통해 -신학교 가게 하고

공수부대 가서 산에서 오르는 훈련 

동창생들과 교제 잘해서 그들이 내 후원자 /교회건축 

everything was God's plan ~~~

 

 

as God had a plan for me also he has a plan for you 

God have scheduled every day of our life 

 

todays passage 6 it says 

"being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you 

will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus"

 

Ephesians 2:10 says that 

“We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
God began a good work in us when we received Christ.
We became a new creation, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.

 

in Psalm 138:8 says,(CSB)

“The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; ~~"
God has good works for us to do,
he has a purpose for us that he will fulfill.
He who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion-
from the first day, every day, until Jesus coming 

 

be confident brothers and sisters 

as God has plan for me , God has plan for you 

and even now he is working on it for us

God's work is like this

this is what we call divine providence

you know? God' does not work in noticealble ways 

most of the time,

we do not recognize  what God is doing for us today

but i'm sure that God is working something good in us

and his work is an ongoing procces in us everyday amen 

 

God gets involved in planning our lives before birth

and God is working in our lives day by day as his purpose 

and God will continue his work in us until it is finally finished 

 

So even though we walk through the darkest valley - don't worry -God is with us

something is mahirap in these days? -Sandale Teka – he’s not finished yet! 

God will finish what he started in us

so that what we have to do is surrender to God 

and trust him

and obey to him 

do our best for what God has entrusted to us  

then we will have a victory

God is alpha and omega

God always finishes what he begins. 

once again i congratulation for your graduating

and onething more

God is not only completing(컴플리팅) the good work he began in you.

God is also completing (컴플리팅)the good work he began in the church.

God began a good work here in this chruch  long time ago.

And you know what? God’s not finished yet!

He has more work for us to do,

more people to come to Christ,

more missions for us to support,

more individuals and families to reach,

more spiritual growth for us as a church.

God who began a good work in this Church will carry it on to completion.

 

Jesus, we enthrone You

We proclaim You are king

Standing here, in the midst of us

We raise You up with our praise

 

And as we worship build Your throne

Come Lord Jesus and take Your place

 

 

Father, we thank you for the opportunity to gather here

to celebrate this graduation. 

Let all glory and honour be unto your name.

we thank you for allowing your servants to graduate today.

and as they start their new journey (i pray for them)

father you guide their steps and protect their life

and help them make the best of what comes their way

use them mightly for your glory and kingdom

Let them harvest many souls in your time

Empower them to be the servants you want them to be
